For masjid boards and administrators

A TV display and sponsor map that funds your masjid

UnityMap puts the local businesses your community already knows on a screen in your masjid and on a map anyone can open on their phone. Businesses sponsor a place 30 days at a time, you approve every one, and most of every listing fee goes to the masjid.

  • Free for the masjid to set up
  • You approve every business
  • No outside ad networks

What goes on the screen

Mosque digital signage that features local sponsors

The UnityMap display is a web page made for a TV. Open it full screen on a TV in your building and it runs unattended, featuring your sponsors one at a time. This is the layout MCWS runs.

The display's layout: a map with a featured business card and its route from the masjid, and a sponsor board with the time, the weather and a QR code
What the display shows. The business names and photo here are placeholders.

A live map of your area

It glides to each sponsor and draws the drive from the masjid to their door, with the distance and drive time.

A sponsor board

Every sponsor's name stays on screen, with plaques for Platinum sponsors and gold credits for Gold.

A QR code for phones

Scanning it opens your map, or the featured business's page, on a phone.

Clock and weather

The time and the local weather, kept current all day.

Updates itself

A newly approved sponsor appears on the screen without anyone touching the TV.

The same map online

Your masjid's map has its own page on unitymap.org, so anyone can browse every sponsor from home.

Masjid sponsorships

How masjid sponsorships work

Local businesses, from halal restaurants and grocers to clinics and contractors, sponsor a place on your map and your screen, 30 days at a time. Nobody appears until someone at your masjid approves them.

  1. 1

    A business signs up

The owner chooses your masjid, adds one photo and a line about the business, picks a sponsor level and saves a card. Nothing is charged yet.

  2. 2

    Your masjid reviews it

Your administrator sees the business, its photo, its level and its price, then approves it or declines it with a reason.

  3. 3

    It goes live

Once the business is approved, its saved card is charged and it appears on your map and your screen.

  4. 4

    The masjid is funded

Sponsorships renew every 30 days until the owner cancels. Most of every listing fee goes to the masjid.

Businesses choose from three sponsor levels, Standard, Gold and Platinum, with an optional Jumu'ah add-on: during the Friday Jumu'ah window the display rotates only through Jumu'ah sponsors.

Your screen, your rules

Your masjid stays in charge

You approve every business

A person at your masjid reviews every business and its photo before it appears, and can decline any one with a reason the owner sees.

You set the prices

Choose what each sponsor level costs and how many sponsors it holds. UnityMap's defaults are only a starting point.

Local businesses only

No outside ad networks. Every sponsor is a business that chose to be known at your masjid.

Away from the prayer hall

Put the screen where people come and go, like an entrance or a hallway, rather than in the prayer hall.

MCWS in Canton, Michigan

The Muslim Community of Western Suburbs (MCWS) in Canton, Michigan, is the first masjid on UnityMap.

A 65-inch screen in the main shoe area, donor-funded at no cost to the masjid, features MCWS's sponsors on a live map of Canton and draws the drive from the masjid to each one.

Local businesses sponsor it 30 days at a time. MCWS sets the prices, an MCWS administrator approves every business, and MCWS receives a statement of every payment.

Common questions

What does it cost the masjid?

Nothing to set up. Local businesses pay for their listings, and most of every listing fee goes to the masjid. The masjid provides the TV.

What do we need for the display?

A TV in your building and a way to open a web page on it: the TV's own browser, or a small device plugged into it. Open your display link full screen and it runs unattended. Any masjid, Islamic center or Muslim community organization with a TV can run it.

Who pays for the screen?

Your masjid, or a donor who wants to help. At MCWS the screen was donor-funded, at no cost to the masjid.

How is this different from another fundraiser?

It asks nothing of your congregation. The money comes from local businesses that want to be known at your masjid, and sponsorships renew every 30 days until the business cancels, so it can become steady income instead of a one-time appeal.

Who decides which businesses appear?

Your masjid. A person reviews every business before it appears, and you can decline any business with a reason. UnityMap never puts outside ads on your screen.

How do businesses sign up?

At unitymap.org/advertise. They choose your masjid, add their business with one photo, pick a level and save a card. They are charged when their business is approved.
